Summary

Description
English: Sache Petreanu, the Romanian journalist and progressive Jewish activist. One of the major contributors to the left-wing review Adevărul, he is shown here trimming the payot of a traditionalist Jew - a reference to his advocacy of assimiliation into the Romanian mainstream. A vocal critic of the Romanian governments, at a time when mainstream Romanian politicians refused to enact the emancipation of Jews, Petreanu had been expelled from Romania by the time this cartoon saw print.
