International University for Science and Technology

International University for Science and Technology (IUST) (IUST; Arabic: الْجَامِعَةُ الدَّوْلِيَّةُ الْخَاصَّةُ لِلْعُلُومِ وَالتِّكْنُولُوجِيَا, romanizedal-Jāmiʿat ad-Dawlīyat al-Khāṣṣat li l-ʿUlūm wa t-Tiknūlūjiyā)[1] is a private university established in 2005, located in the city of Ghabagheb in Daraa Governorate, Syria. The university has seven faculties: dentistry, pharmacy, engineering and technology, information technology, business administration and finance, arts and sciences, and Architecture. The university has a liaison office at Damascus, Al Mazzeh Eastern villas.

History[edit]

After the beginning of the Syrian civil war in 2011, the university headquarters moved temporarily in 2013 to Damascus city in Kiwan opposite Tishreen Park near Umayyad Square, and the university continued in Kiwan until 2019 when it returned to its original headquarters in Ghabagheb, Daraa.

IUST comprises the following seven colleges that meet the needs and demands of the local Syrian community and the Arab and regional communities as well:

  • College of Business and Finance[2]
  • College of Information Technology (As of 2023, this faculty has stopped accepting new students).
  • College of Engineering and Technology[3]

  • College of Pharmacy[5]
  • College of Arts and Sciences[6]
  • College of Architecture[7]

The University has signed several cooperation agreements with Arab and international universities, such as:

Services at IUST[edit]

International University for Science and Technology serves two types of services. The first one is for the students,[9] and the second one is for the teachers.[10]

Electronic Education Gate of IUST[edit]

Edugate[11][12] is a system composed of several services for visitors to the gate and the students[13][14][15] and teachers.

Sustainable Development office[edit]

The sustainable development office at International University for Science and Technology[16] started in 2023. The office focuses on the SDGs at the university.

Scientific Research at International University for Science and Technology[edit]

There are multiple scientific research projects and published articles at International University for Science and Technology. For example, published articles of Faculty of Dentistry about dental implant,[17][18] frenectomy,[19] and tumors.[20][21][22][23] These projects are from Faculty of Dentistry clinics[24] at International University for Science and Technology.
