Fair use rationale for Image:Isreal 10 logo.gif[edit]

Image:Isreal 10 logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 10:23, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 19 October 2018[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Pages moved to Channel 10 (Israeli TV channel) and Channel 10 News respectively, as per the below iscussion. (non-admin closure) IffyChat -- 11:11, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

– Since 1 November 2017, the channel's name is spelt out in Hebrew alphabet (rather than Hindu–Arabic 10), and the channel itself is actually broadcast on channel 14. It would be appropriate to use Latin transliteration of the names, rather than translating them in English (or mixing translation and transliteration). (I know the merger with Reshet is ongoing, but I have urge to correct the names.)

For Channel Ten (Israel), I think it can be moved to either Eser (TV channel) or Arutz Eser. JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 03:21, 19 October 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. В²C 16:34, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose and propose alternative - RS sources, Israeli news agencies in English, call this "Channel 10" - [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], while these call it "Channel Ten" - [6], [7] (Please note that it calls this "Channel Ten" in the title, though in the article it only calls it "Channel 10" and does so multiple times). Also, the goverment anti-trust agency calls it Channel 10. Per these sources and WP:NCBC which require the disambiguation to be (TV channel), the name should be Channel 10 (TV channel). Please also note that the twitter handle chosen is Channel 10 and not "Eser". Regarding the news program - I found the sources call it "Channel 10 News": "Channel 10 News before an interview last year", "Despite all this, Channel 10 News has succeeded, after many struggles over the years", [8], "Citing what it said were multiple sources, Israel’s Channel 10 News on Sunday night quoted" and "but the number of potential buyers of Channel 10 News is extremely small", while the quote from the Reshet CEO Avi Zvi repotrted here calls it "News 10". So both proposed version and current version are incorrect. While "News 10" would be the more accurate translation, reliable sources just don't call it that. Also note that the channel's LinkedIn profile calls it that. So program name should be changed to Channel 10 News. Both changes are in-line with WP:ESTABLISHED guideline. --Gonnym (talk) 06:30, 19 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • If you think the article about the TV channel should be titled Channel 10, then I think it should be Channel 10 (Israeli TV channel), since there are many other channels around the world named Channel 10. For the same reason, the one about the news bulletins should be titled Channel 10 News (Israel). JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 12:07, 19 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • I double checked again and you are right. While currently there is no article named Channel 10 (TV channel) that isn't because there is no article that should, it is because the others are also wrongly titled (so this should save the community time when the other channel name is fixed). Regarding the TV news program, I can't seem to find any article on Wikipedia that has that name or a similar one. Can you find one? We don't usually disambiguate articles because "others might also fit". If there isn't any current article, there is no need to disambiguate it. Also, see Channel One News. As a side note, TV programs get disambiguated as (TV program) per WP:NCTV. --Gonnym (talk) 08:37, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
        • Isn't Channel 10 News a company that serves as a news division which, besides the regular news bulletins, also produces many other programmes including current affairs show? Also, there are (or have been) many instances where American local TV stations on channel 10 branded their newscasts as Channel 10 News. JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 13:45, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
          • Sure. The name still works though. Even if there were american local stations, they aren't notable and more importantly, don't have an article. Where would you link Channel 10 News to? If the answer is either "no where" or this page, then just use this page. If later another "Channel 10 News" comes, then we'll deal with it then. --Gonnym (talk) 08:55, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, move to Channel 10 (Israel) Israel Annual Fact Digest 2015 "In mid-December 2014, the Knesset Economics and Education Committees had an idea: salvage Channel 10 by ... Politicians leaped in—all on Channel 10's side, all viewing its impending demise as no less than a blow to Israeli democracy." Who Owns the World's Media?: Media Concentration and Ownership 2016 " Israel's second commercial broadcaster, Channel 10, launched in 2002." etc. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:47, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Per WP:NCBC, articles about TV channel must bear (TV channel) in the title when a disambiguation suffix is needed. JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 13:45, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Channel 10 (Israeli TV channel) per above; using numerals is an improvement over the English-language "ten", and "(Israeli TV channel)" is the standard disambiguation here. power~enwiki (π, ν) 16:12, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Based on the discussion so far, the consensus (for now) will be:

JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 13:21, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • FWIW, this resolution seems fair... (Though I'm a little worried about the second one – I guess it can always be revisited later, if need be.) --IJBall (contribstalk) 22:07, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
