Notes[edit]

there is very different meaning in the english and german defination of this article. is heavy industry producing big object or is is producing steel, iron etc? --Salvor (talk) 12:01, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why does 'heavy machinery' redirect to this? 24.16.57.110 (talk) 20:48, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed - why does "heavy machinery" redirect here? Would anyone oppose it redirecting elsewhere, or an article of its own right created? Morgan Riley (talk) 22:22, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

SUMO Heavy Industries[edit]

This was in the firm name section. Turns out it is a internet related company, and kind of missleading, also it's article was deleted as a marketing attempt. Thus I remove it from here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.17.167.191 (talk) 22:30, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lumber-type industries: neither "heavy" nor "light"?[edit]

Since I live in a region that has had lumber, plywood, and flooring industries as a very important part of the economy for many decades, I'm dismayed to find that neither the "Heavy industry" article nor the "Light industry" article would seem to encompass these. One of the definitions of "heavy industry" is that it's the type that essentially supplies other industries, rather than consumers. This label should, then, apply to the wood-product industries, because the consumer (e.g., DIY) markets absorb very little output of lumber, plywood, etc.Joel Russ (talk) 22:24, 12 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
