"Land of Israel" to Palestine[edit]

I changed the opening sentence under "History" from "One of the Zionist movement's dreams was to establish a Hebrew university in The Land of Israel." to "One of the Zionist movement's dreams was to establish a Hebrew university in Palestine." I did this to make it factually and historically accurate, since this idea was first conceptualized prior to the creation of Israel. This also makes it easier for one to follow the linear history of it's establishment in comparison to the time-period. It also helps avoid any confusion from Zionist ideaology and non-partisan history.

Four campuses[edit]

I have never heard of the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry at Hadassah being referred to as a separate campus. Is there any source for this? Does a building in a hospital complex classify as a campus? In all the literature I have seen, HUJI speaks of two campuses in Jerusalem and one in Rehovot.--Gilabrand 10:39, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Einstein's name trademarked by Hebrew Uni?[edit]

I have here a toy that my colleagues bought for my little daughter. The toy is made by the "Baby Einstein Company, LLC". Down the bottom of the packaging it says:

"EINSTEIN and ALBERT EINSTEIN are trademarks of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. All Rights Reserved"

Title of Article[edit]

Early Founders[edit]

On this page, no credit is given to any of the early founders of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, such as Immanuel Velikovsky. There is also no discussion of his papers, Scripta Universitatis Atque Bibliothecae Hierosolymitanarum. Albert Einstein gets almost all credit for supporting the University, when in fact Velikovsky is the one who enlisted Einstein to help. Whatishere (talk) 23:51, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Student Housing[edit]

I suggest the addition of a Student Housing section. Topics could address the Idelson/Bronfman and Meirsdorf/Reznik confusion, approximate prices for dormitory housing on all campuses, and the resources avaliable on campus (lounge, computer room, day care, groceries, the bar in the Student Village, etc.). Pronunciation/Transliteration[edit]

So, I am still learning Hebrew. But I asked my teacher, native of Tel Aviv, how it's pronounced and she says אוניברסיטה is pronounced Oniversita and the preposition ב is be. Is that wrong? If so, why? Just curious. Thanks. --Chris S. (talk) 14:07, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The preposition is basically בְּ־ (be-), but in the standard language בְּ־ (be-) + יְ־ (ye-) = בִּי (bi). In the colloquial language it may be pronounced beye, but it's not consistent and not very well described, so i prefer to stick to the standard.
אוניברסיטה is definitely אוּנִיבֶרְסִיטָה (universita) according to dictionaries. See, for example, the Academy's Hebrew Terms site and Morfix. Some Israelis pronounce an [o], but it's definitely non-standard. (See my user talk page for a bit more detailed reply.) --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 15:58, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Picture in lead[edit]

I propose that the picture in the lead should be removed. Pictures generally don't go in leads, and makes the text format look awkward. Mentioning Nature Parks and Galleries to the Edmund J. Safra section[edit]

Hi,

I've written an article Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/The Nature Park & Galleries, which specify the exhibits and works done by the Nature Parks and Galleries (NPG, שדרות טבע וגלריות) in the Edmund J. Safra campus. So far it wasn't approved as an independent article. Instead, I was advised to add it here, under the Edmund J. Safra campus section. Since I'm in COI with this article (as I decalred in my profile Mikicook), I wouldn't like to do it myself, but rather recommend it to be done by someone else. Source for "15 Nobel Laureates"?[edit]

I was looking for a source of the "15 Nobel Laureates" that is cited in the lede of this article, and have been unable to find one. The official university only lists 7 Nobel laureates (and 2 Fields medalists). My understanding is that there should probably be several more people who are associated with this university as undergraduate or graduate students, but I cannot seem to find a direct source with those kinds of affiliations. By this press release from 2005, it confirms 5 of the Nobel laureates, and also seems to confirm that four of those people are not current professors at Hebrew University.

Although there is one website that does seem to also confirm 15 laureates, it appears that the text is ripped directly from this very Wiki. The most confusing source is another wikipedia article, where it seems to claim that Hebrew University has had 8 Nobel Econ Laureates since 2000, which I have not been able to find confirmation for yet. I would love to put a reputable source behind this claim!
