Location[edit]

Yoninah, why did you ad that its located in Israel? --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 23:30, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I didn't check first that all the other Old City locations didn't have a country. I reverted my change. Yoninah (talk) 23:44, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
the street from Jaffa Gate to the Western Wall was called after 1967 by the name THE CAPITAL STREET. after Teddy Kollek was the mayor of jerusalem the name of the street was changt to David street. פארוק (talk) 10:12, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Could you supply a source? Yoninah (talk) 10:34, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
my mother hava a streets map of the old city from 1971. the name of street from Jaffa gate to the western wall was רחוב הבירה - the capital street. פארוק (talk) 10:44, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ottoman sebil[edit]

The Ottoman sebil seems to have survived after the clock tower was taken down. The section says that it was destroyed in 1921 and the tower was dismantled in 1922. The photo against the section shows the sebil but not the clock tower, meaning it was destroyed after the tower. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Moughera (talkcontribs) 21:21, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Breach in the wall - a widespread urban legend[edit]

As you can see: The Jaffa Gate and Moat in 1880 - Charles Wilson: Picturesque Palestine there was no wall to breach, just a moat that was filled. Source of the drawing: Picturesque Palestine, Sinai and Egypt 85.165.8.35 (talk) 05:14, 16 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

1920 JNF photo[edit]

I agree it doesn’t look like any picture I’ve seen. But the caption says David’s Tower and the date 1920 was around the time they demolished the Ottoman clock tower so I thought it was possibly authentic.

Jaffa Gate 1920

I have no doubt of its authenticity, merely the subject matter. The picture shows the inner and outer gates of the Tower of David, which has its own article. This article is about the Jaffa Gate, which does not appear in this picture. Why is it here and why is it labelled "Jaffa Gate"? Poliocretes (talk) 02:59, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
My mistake. Got a little confused. Padres Hana (talk) 23:07, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
