Merge[edit]

I propose to merge these two disambiguation pages Qadesh and Kadesh (disambiguation), but I'm not sure how to handle it. USchick (talk) 17:35, 23 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The answers to these would help (I think):

Is the primary topic for Kadesh also the primary topic for "Qadesh"? for "Kaddish"? of "Kiddush"? of "Kedesh"? of "Qetesh"?

Could all or most of the topics that could be titled "Kadesh" also be titled "Qadesh"? "Kaddish"? "Kiddush"? "Kedesh"? "Qetesh"?
Is there a relevant project guideline for selecting a title from multiple possible transliteration candidates?

Move or leave the disambiguation page to the guideline-adhering title.

Whichever titles have the same primary topic should all redirect to Kadesh (or lead to a different topic, if they have a different primary).

If the sets of topics for each ambiguous title completely (or almost completely) overlap, they should be merged (the entries copy-and-pasted to the "main" one and the non-main titles redirected to the main one. -- JHunterJ (talk) 17:13, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the suggestion. I used Qadesh as the main disambiguation page, since Q is the more accepted version over K. Then I explained the Q-D-S connection at the beginning of that page and listed all the related terms there. Then I redirected Kadesh (disambiguation) to Qadesh. Rename "Kadesh (Israel)"!!![edit]

"Kadesh (Israel)" is utterly misleading! Today it's in Egypt, there are other Kadesh sites in Israel (see Qadesh disambig. page), and in the Bible it's "Kadesh Barnea"! So nothing really fits.Arminden (talk) 17:30, 22 November 2015 (UTC)ArmindenArminden (talk) 17:30, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
