"Published works and statements about the Holocaust" section[edit]

This is wayyyy past WP:DUE, this takes up more space than relations with Israel or Hamas. This is not such a prominent feature of the coverage of Abbas that it needs this level of detail, nor does it need every random statement hes made in 70 years. nableezy - 17:41, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Considering it discusses at least 5 separate instances of him denying the Holocaust, I'd say that the repetitive behavior of his is notable enough for documentation in this article. If he wrote a book on it and republished it 30 years later, I'd think the topic is significant enough to include on the page. Do you have any ideas in particular on how you'd change the section? His Holocaust denial/distortion/justification is widely covered by PLENTY of mainstream sources. It's not a minor feature nor some verbal slip he said once in his life. Coverage is an appropriate and proper reflection of what is covered in WP:RS. I would even go as far to say that the lede is even an underrepresentation of what is covered in the body of the article on this topic. Longhornsg (talk) 18:14, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Bald assertion based on nothing but personal opinion. This biography for example mentions the Holocaust twice, in 218 pages. This covers it in 6 pages, out of 200 some pages. It is absurd to claim that this topic is more widely covered than his presidency, which is how this article treats it. Gaping content gaps[edit]

In contrast to the above, Abbas' actual political activities are quite underrepresented. There is barely anything on the 2014 unity government and split with Hamas (neither in the main career part, or the relations with Hamas part), despite this being the biggest political drama in the last decade. More broadly, I'm not sure if it benefits the article to divide the contents into these career/relations sections - the main effect appears to be to de-contextualize all of the relations aspects, which, as a result, are just organized in a disjointed prose line format in their section. The lack of sufficient quotes from the book about the Holocaust[edit]

In my opinion, there are not enough quotes from his book to express his denial of the Holocaust. Here are some quotes. The following is a Google Translate from the Hebrew version. I apologize for the the irrelevant footnotes...
