Request photograph[edit]

The photo previously provided was not a photo of a McDonald's McMuffin sandwich but a home brewed version, and was removed. I restored the photo required tag and moved it to the top of the page. --Jeremy ( Blah blah...) 19:25, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Added photo of McDonald's Egg McMuffin. Geoff (talk) 15:32, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Confused[edit]

The article seems confused as to which product it's referring to. However, I am unfamiliar with the American McDonalds menu, so don't want to edit it just yet. In the UK, the Bacon & Egg McMuffin and Sausage & Egg McMuffin are the standard menu items (with S&E being considerably more popular, and double versions also on the menu). The Egg McMuffin (without any meat) was discontinued a few years ago, but is available on request as far as I know. I ceased employment with McDonalds UK over a year ago, so it's status may have changed since then. Beeurd (talk) 16:24, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Conflicting Info[edit]

"The Egg McMuffin was invented by the late McDonald's franchisee Herb Peterson in the late 1960s; it was introduced nationwide in 1972."

That sentence (in the beginning) is not sourced and conflicts with much of the information in the "History" section. 98.127.183.120 (talk) 07:46, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

According to the corporate McDonald's website, the McMuffin was invented in 1971, not 1972.Therefore it causes some confusion. [1] Mcdonaldsfan (talk) 16:37, 27 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Advertising slogan[edit]

There's more in the middle of the Egg McMuffin than the egg in the middle of the muffin. TV ad slogan circa 1978. It was in a commercial during the Star Wars Holiday Special. Bizzybody (talk) 01:24, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

More international perspective needed![edit]

"The Egg McMuffin is the signature breakfast sandwich. It was invented by McDonald's franchisee Herb Peterson in the late 1960s and was introduced nationwide in 1972."

Which "nation" would that be?81.130.80.62 (talk) 18:00, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ham vs. Canadian Bacon[edit]

This article can't seem to decide if the standard Egg McMuffin features ham or Canadian bacon. Here in the US, I'm pretty sure it's Canadian bacon as that term is used in the US (i.e., a slice of back bacon made entirely from pork loin). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.192.86.50 (talk) 22:30, 24 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The article says the first Egg McMuffin was made in 1975 at Fairview McDonald's. I was a McDonald's manager in Dallas, TX from 1972-1976. We started serving Egg McMuffins in either late 1972 or early 1973. A 6 month trial in a test market before roll-out was common then so I suspect the first Egg McMuffin was served in Fairview in early 1972. JRH (talk) 04:38, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My Article About McDonald's Own Egg McMuffin[edit]

Hello, I created Draft:Egg McMuffin and I want to let you know that is is not some copy, but I collected a few data here for it. It is not a copy, it is just a use for the contribution of McDonald's Meals. I am a McDonald's lover, and I wanna write articles of their breakfast first. So, don't judge my article please! 119.92.14.102 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 13:27, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 19 November 2021[edit]

Please change "invented in 1972" to "invented in 1971" in two places, and also replace citation 4 with this article from the official McDonalds corporate site which states, "The iconic Egg McMuffin was first created in early 1971 by Herb Peterson" [1] General nogi (talk) 23:42, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: The AP / LA Times source ("Egg McMuffin inventor Herb Peterson dies at 89". Los Angeles Times. Associated Press. March 26, 2008. Retrieved March 27, 2008.) says 1972, and secondary sources (like the news report) are preferred over primary sources (like McDonalds's website). Can you find secondary sources which support 1971?
