Comments[edit]

There was no article here, so i put down the little knowledge i have on this subject, feel free to add or change.

- there is no mention of allied bombing of Rome _after_ it being declared an open city.. I dont have the time right now to find sources for this but i know it as fact so if someone cares to bother feel free to balance this Allied biased perspective on the concept of >open cities< - — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.178.171.134 (talk) 18:49, 30 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

rules of war[edit]

alright then an open city can not be attacked as it is presumably just "march on". So if the attacker bomb the city in a "we're-just-checking" campaign before marching on, or march on running with flamethrowers burning the hell out of everything and screaming "we're the champions" it would BREAK the rules, but if the army just march on and guerrilla fighters from resistence movements attack them, are they breaking rules? sure yes, but then, who should take the blame, if the city is open and the invaded country has nothing to do with it anymore? the acts commited by the guerrilla are held on the state or are just marked as "impolite oh-jee-you're-beaking-the-rules"? if there is the confirmation of guerrila fighters infiltrated in the city the attackers can wash it way from the world without disrespect rules then? someone could explain that? it's kinda weird. i mean 'cause it's obvious you will not just walk in and be the nice guy if you know you will be shot dead by hidden bad dressed people. ps: guerrilla is a coward thing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.25.43.243 (talkcontribs)

What an idiotic prose. What are you trying to say!?! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.40.139.109 (talk) 11:02, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oslo?[edit]

There's no citation, but Oslo is reported as being declared an open city during the German invasion of Norway in 1940.
