previous version stated Rehovot as the only israeli city with two universities. That isn't true - Haifa has two - University of Haifa, and the Technion Institute of Technology (05/03/2005).

Cairo to Haifa train bombing[edit]

Removing reference to 100 civilians casualties, as those were in the SECOND bombing of this line, that happened a month later near Binyamina. See the well-sourced entry about that - Cairo–Haifa train bombings 1948. Shmuel A. Kam (talk) 22:58, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Don't know if this fits, but...[edit]

It's hard to find Khirbat Deiran on a map, except for an archaeological map. For the record, it was roughly centered at the intersection of Ya'aqov and Dondikov streets. Zerotalk 09:08, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Correct spelling[edit]

The correct spelling of this town's name is REHOVOTH.

The final ת is NOT a "t" (that's תּ), but a "th".

Danniel Qeletti Rehovoth (talk) 13:58, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

According to what sources is that the correct spelling?
The most compelling evidence I see for the current spelling, Rehovot, is the city's website: http://www.rehovot.muni.il/C.Fred (talk) 14:11, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I am aware of that regrettable fact.
Nonetheless, the fact remains it should be spelled Rehovoth.
Except very few exceptions, Hebrew letter ת does not have a dagesh (that small dot) inside it when at the end of the word, with no vowel following after that. So, it cannot be a "t", but only "th".
Furthermore, note "וַיִּקְרָא שְׁמָהּ, רְחֹבוֹת" ("And he called the name of it Rehoboth"; Genesis, 26, 22, from here: http://www.mechon-mamre.org/i/t/t0126.htm, En-Version here: http://www.mechon-mamre.org/e/et/et0126.htm). "רְחֹבוֹת" and NOT "רְחֹבוֹתּ"; and note, also: not "רְחוֹבוֹת".
Furthermore, the Hebrew Language is my own profession and expertise, and I am a Native of this town. :-)
Admittedly, most modern Hebrew-speakers have lost the ability to pronounce it correctly, which is highly regrettable; but nonetheless, one must be accurate.

If you are a native of this town, then please show official publications by the town that use the -th spelling This is one case where a self-published source by the subject is authoritative. —C.Fred (talk) 15:55, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Notable residents[edit]

As far as I know, Adi Shamir is also a resident of Rehovot, and should be notable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Enosh10 (talkcontribs) 08:02, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Update needed for opening paragraph statistics[edit]

Population figure needs an update to reflect information on the table on the right.

DeeTsameret (talk) 16:29, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

done. But by matching the infobox to the current {{Israel populations}} listing. nableezy - 16:34, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The opposite needs to be done. The more updated statistics were in the infobox (2022). DeeTsameret (talk) 16:43, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Then they should be updated at the template. That is how the populations are done across the board for Israeli localities here. Pinging Number 57 and Ynhockey to see when the update might happen on the template side. nableezy - 16:53, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will do it later today. Cheers, Number 57 16:55, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh sorry for the ping, see Number 57 was already pinged to the template and he said he'll be updating it there. nableezy - 16:55, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
