Is there justification for this article?

I understand, obviously, that the political situation around Jerusalem is complicated, but in practical terms - is there really any justification for having this article? It is unreferenced by itself. Of course, references could be found, but everything that it says is repeated in the main article about Jerusalem. The articles in Czech and Hebrew say more or less the same thing as this article in English. The term "West Jerusalem" is used sometimes, but much less than "East Jerusalem". We could also cover everything on the East Jerusalem on Jerusalem. West Jerusalem is worthy of it's own article. This article needs alot of work, but it's a start. This article is justified by the fact that West Jerusalem is in Israel and East Jerusalem is in the occupied territories.

That is not a justification for this article by itself. The controversy about the occupation East Jerusalem exists, of course, but you can write about it in the articles Jerusalem, East Jerusalem, Positions on Jerusalem, etc. But there's just nothing of significance to write in this article. --Amir E. West Jerusalem is worth an article as a major conurbation in its own right with its own particular (Jewish-derived) culture and separate social/commercial hubs from East Jerusalem. Jewish West Jerusalem deserves an article as a conurbation and community in its own right, detailing its evolution out of the "Jewish Colony" at the time of the New Yishuv into the sprawling, overwhelmingly Jewish metropolis that exists today. In light of the above comment, I will jot down here some ideas for further content which can be summarised from other articles:

• history of development of Jewish neighbourhoods outside the Old City walls:

• construction of Yemin Moshe and Mea Shearim
• the "Jewish Colony" in Jerusalem 1920s-1940s
• post-1948 expansion to cover other areas such as the German colony and expansion of the conurbation out into the countryside

• Main commercial/social hubs of West Jerusalem:

• Downtown Triangle (Jerusalem)
• Mamilla Mall
• Emek Refaim

In the "Division in 1949" section, it states that East Jerusalem was populated mainly by Muslims and Christians. (1) Under *History/War of 1948 - Eliminate the duplicate word "war". (2) Under *History/Division of 1949 - Move the sentence "The United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine made of Jerusalem and its area an international city.[8]"

 to the introduction, making the first sentence:
"West Jerusalem or Western Jerusalem refers to the section of Jerusalem that remained under Israeli control after the 1948 Arab–Israeli War, whose ceasefire lines delimited the boundary with the rest of the city, which was then under Jordanian control,[1] despite the United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine which would have made Jerusalem and its area an international city.[8]"

Why is Arabic placed first before Hebrew?

It is clear that Jews form the majority of West Jerusalem and that West Jerusalem is pre 1967s borders therefore the Hebrew transition should be placed before the Arabic transition. As the pre 1967 borders are recognised to be with in Israel. Otherwise the Wikipedia page may have a degree of bias. Salandarianflag (talk) 00:07, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

"State of Palestine"

It seems very political to mention, in the lead paragraph, "sovereign territory of either Israel or the State of Palestine". Israel is a recognized entity, and the "state of Palestine" is not widely recognized, and violates all agreements between the parties. In addition, if "state of Palestine" must stay (as opposed to "Palestinian authority, etc), then it should either also mention "State of Israel" and not just "Israel", or it should just say "Palestine". It violates all agreements signed between Israel and the PLO/PA.

Israel is a recognized country, with recognized territory, if not borders. "Palestine" is not a recognized country, with little if any recognized territory.

Also, it seems political to mention "state of Palestine" when it just says "Israel". Either it should be using full official names for both countries/entities, or just use the common name. The need to specifically mention that "Palestine" is a state seems to imply a bias against Israeli views and interests Helpfulguy101 (talk) 12:58, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

Orphaned references in West Jerusalem

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of West Jerusalem's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
