reordering Berel vs. Meshulam Dovid

The traditional family trees don't reflect the Beis Halevi's first marriage which appears quite understandable as his father-in-law ran him out of town and it would follow that he therefore didn't have much contact with his first son. Menachemsdavis (talk) 21:06, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

-Reb Chaim Brisker's wife Lifsha, as noted, was the daughter of R Refael Shapiro. She was also the granddaughter of the Netziv (R Refael's father-in-law), great-granddaughter of R Yitchak of Volozhin (The Netziv's father-in-law) and great-great-granddaughter of R Chaim of Volozhin (R Yitzchak's father). So R Chaim's children were great-grandchildren of the Netziv and great-great-great grandchildren of R Chaim of Volozhin. The Netziv's sons, Rav Chaim Berlin and Rav Meir Bar-Ilan, were thus first cousins, once removed, of Rav Chaim Brisker. Rav Meir Bar-Ilan's daughter, Judith Berlin, married Rabbi Professor Saul Lieberman, who himself was a first cousin of the Chazon Ish. The Chazon Ish's sister married the Steipler Gaon, Rav Yaakov Yisrael Kanievsky, father of Rav Chaim Kanievsky. Rav Chaim Kanievsky's wife, Batsheva Kanievsky, was the daughter of Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, whose wife was the daughter of Rav Aryeh Levin. Rav Elyashiv also had a daughter who married Rav Ezriel Auerbach, son of Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach, who is descended from Rav Yaakov Yosef of Polnoy, one of the Baal Shem Tov's primary students. Rav Shlomo Zalman Aurbach also has a daughter married to Rav Zalman Nechemiah Goldberg. So Rav Chaim Brisker's first cousin Judith Berlin married the Chazon Ish's first cousin, Rabbi Lieberman.

-Rabbi Aharon Lichtenstein's son Moshe is Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Har Etzion, while another son, Mayer, serves as a rabbi in the Hesder Yeshiva of Othniel (they thus far only have Hebrew language wikipedia pages).

-Peshka Feinstein Soloveichik, wife of Rav Moshe Soloveitchik, is the daughter of Rav Eliyahu Feinstein. Rav Eliyahu's sister-in-law married Rav Dovid Feinstein, father of Rav Moshe Feinstein, thus making Rav Moshe Feinstein a first cousin of Peshka, and Rav Moshe's sons Rav Dovid and Rav Reuven, 2nd cousins of Rav Moshe Soloveitchik's children.

-Rav Malkiel Kotler, son of R Shneur Kotler, grandson of R Aharon Kotler, great-grandson of R Isser Zalman Meltzer (R Aharon's father-in-law), in a previous marriage married a granddaughter of R Yitzchok Zev Soloveitchik. R Isser Zalman also had a granddaughter (daughter of R Isser Zalman's son, Rav Zvi Yehuda Meltzer) who married Rav Yehuda Amital, founding Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Har Etzion. Rav Amital's children are thus 2nd cousins of Rav Malkiel Kotler. Similarly, Rav Aharon Lichtenstein's children are third cousins of Rav Yitzchok Zev (Reb Velvel) Soloveitchik's great-grandchildren. So the match between Rav Malkiel and a granddaughter of R Yitzchok Zev was a match between Rav Amital's first cousin, and Rav Aharon Lichtenstein's 2nd cousin (via marriage). eponymous does not mean what you think it means

The article currently states "Yosef Dov was the great-grandfather of the eponymous Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik" Eponymous means "being the person or thing for whom or which something is named," like Hamlet being the eponymous character of the play, and quisling. It should say "Yosef Dov was the great-grandfather of the preeminent American scholar Rabbi Joseph B.
