How to use this page[edit]

Fixing references and common medical problems!
Warning: for legal reasons, we must note that the Resource Exchange cannot fix any medical problems. But it can fix references.

Making a request[edit]

Before asking volunteers to look for your source, try finding it yourself with the tools at your disposal.

In particular, eligible editors can use the Wikipedia Library, which gives access to content provided by numerous academic publishers.

  • Though we would prefer you to ask for a specific journal, article or work, we will accept open-ended questions. You can ask for all kinds of sources here, either on this page or by writing directly to an active user.
  • Provide as much detail as possible: a full citation with author, title, publisher, date and identifiers like DOI, ISBN, ISSN, PMID, OCLC, etc. Indicate which article you need this for.
  • Due to copyright restrictions, we cannot send you full book/thesis copies. Narrow down your request to a specific chapter or page(s).
  • Add the {{Resolved}} template when your request is completed.
  • Filled requests are archived. Requests unfilled after three months will also be archived.

Fulfilling a request[edit]

  • Anyone may offer advice and fulfill requests, in full or in part. When fulfilling a part of a request, tell others which one so that they don't have to do the same work.
  • Notify (mention) the requester using {{u|REQUESTER_USERNAME}}.
  • You can:

  • Respect copyrights and terms of services of any online services you use.
  • Limit sharing content online that the copyright holders have restricted access to to the minimum level: only to the individuals who need it, only to the minimal degree necessary to fulfil the request and only to improve Wikipedia. We share content under a presumed non-commercial, educational, fair use purpose to improve our articles or create new ones.
  • Whenever possible, share copies privately. You should not upload copyrighted copies from print publications or online databases for unrestricted distribution via open websites.
  • Individual editors are solely responsible for sharing copyrighted content and assume all legal risks. Check the laws of your jurisdiction to make sure you are comfortable and safe giving access to it.

Unfortunately, no, I'm not certain about the publication information; I tracked it down as a potential source second or third-hand a while ago. Although for 3 the most needed part is the section on felids (cats), Miomachairodus in specific, if you only have limited time. In case it helps at all, here are some URLs for #5:
Let me know you think if it would be useful for me to request an interlibrary loan (which can be physical or digital) for chapter 105 of "Proceedings of Fourth Pakistan Congress of Zoology" through my university. The second WorldCat link says that University of Minnesota, Twin Cities has a copy, and both it and my university are in the Big Ten Academic Alliance, so it should be more likely to be accepted and should be processed faster, compared to it being at some unaffiliated institution.

In the Department of Zoology, Punjab University, the total number of the speciments of fossil Carnivora is eighteen. More collection was made last year. The total number of species that discovered is sixteen. Of these four i.e. Vishnucyon nagriensis, Sivaonyx minor, Lycaena felina and Panthera dhokpathanensis are new. The other speciments also given additional information about the known species. The work has been carried out under Pakistan Foundation, Project No. P-PU/Bio (102).

Status update to keep this thread from going stale: My ILL request is still active, though the last status update was my university's libraries sending a manual request to some library (presumably the National Library of Pakistan?) on February 14th. I'm not sure how long this might take, but I hope I'll get it eventually...
Meanwhile, my difficulty in finding this one inspired me to compile a table of all of the information I could find about all of their monographs: Biological Society of Pakistan#Monographs.

1906 article in Arts and Crafts[edit]

According to the below article, The March number of "Arts and Crafts" is, as usual, full of articles which are intended to provide students and art workers with useful information on a variety of subjects in which they are interested. The most important of these articles are "Various Methods of Finishing Oak," by Mr. W. Daniell; "Metal Work," by Mr. H. J. Maryon; "Practical Talks about Wood-Carving," by Mr. H. Turner; "Inlaying," by Mr. A[rthur] C[awdron] Horth; and "Bookbinding," by Mr. F. Sangorski and Mr. G. Sutcliffe. Among the more notable illustrations are reproductions of drawings by Henner, E. Detaille, and Feyen Perrin.

The starting point is to figure out what journal this is—a task not helped by its generic name. There's a good chance that this is a small journal that didn't last long. The article would be Maryon's second published work that I'm aware of, five months after "Early Irish Metal Work", in another small journal. Any help would be appreciated. If you're having trouble with the ILL, I should be able to request an ILL for OCLC 225804755 pretty easily, as my university is within the Big Ten Academic Alliance, and so is one of the libraries that has it. Books about Le Touquet in French[edit]

For User:Szmenderowiecki/sandbox/Touquet, particularly WWII and post-war reconstruction - will be thrown directly into Le Touquet article

The first article is available through OpenEdition, but The Wikipedia Library access to it is broken, hence my request. The second and third books are very likely offline, and I don't have relevant pages, so I'd appreciate someone with ILL (buying ILL vouchers). Obviously I cannot and will not request everything, but I need some info about what was happening, how many Germans were living in that city, what they were doing there, what did they do with the women, elderly and children who remained in the resort, preparations for the Atlantic Wall as relevant to the city and the reason why Le Touquet was so densely mined even though it had little intrinsic military value. Any relevant excerpts that will reflect on this issue will be welcome. I want to make a text that's max 2 paragraphs, beginning from the internment order of enemy males under 60.

I am still working on my sandbox, so yes, I'd greatly appreciate your efforts there.
The problem is that no library in my country has the books, and pdfs are nowhere to be found. So preferably if you have somebody in France, either in Paris (National Library) or in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, where the town is located, I guess they would have both of the books. Also, because you seem to be based in the United States, check if the Library of Congress has the books, because interlibrary loans to an American library are free, and the LoC has a shitton of everything.
When you get hold of them, send me the ToC and the index (if the books have one), and I will tell more or less what I am looking for.

I am indeed in the US, and am a student at a university here. I can request ILL through my university's library system (as I've been doing) or through my county's public libraries. According to WorldCat, these books don't seem to be in the LoC, but Harvard has both and Stanford has one of them, so it should be doable nevertheless.
I've requested both through my university. When I get them, I'll send you photos of any front and back matter, including any ToCs and indices, and you can let me know which parts you think would be most useful. Weighing copyright vs fair use according to related legal precedent, I'm okay with sending you up to about 10% of the content, not counting front/back matter.

Bird name synonym[edit]

For Aldabra fody, as I am doing a major expansion of the article and I cannot figure out who the first author to use the synonym Foudia eminentissima aldabrana was; I think it was most probably Moreau, but I need confirmation (strangely, no taxonomic database I have visited has mentioned this name, but it is brought up by the IUCN and others without making it clear who used it first). If not here, Birds of the World, which I also cannot access, may have some information.

In the article you linked, I don't see a mention of "eminentissima", but Figure 2 on p. 34 is captioned "Foudia beaks"; #7 is "aldabrana (Aldabra)". It cites https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/partpdf/52121 from 1894, which refers to "Foudia aldabrana".
Searching my university's EBSCOhost subscription, I found citations to Frith, C. B. (1976). "A twelve-month study of the Aldabran Fody Foudia eminentissima aldabrana". Ibis. 118: 155–178. in:

I gave the request a deadline of about a month, and it has accordingly been cancelled. Given that it doesn't seem to be in the print version, I'm not sure if there's much they can do anyways.
Based on my limited understanding from cognates and photographs, I do see some articles in the print version that seem to be about police and/or terrorism, such as:

By random chance alone there isn't much chance anyone's going to be from Brisbane, but it's much higher there and maybe they could go to the state library or, if they are outside Brisbane but still in Queensland, do an ILL, which is free for Queensland libraries.

Black Emperor, including the album Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven. While I can somewhat access it on Google Books, it does not have page numbers, and not all the pages are available. The footnotes from the book I have added to the article in question are guesswork because I do not know the exact page numbers and would like a stable copy for verification and ease.

The rest are reviews of the album taken from either the review score sidebar already in the article or the album's entry on Metacritic. I have applied on the Wikipedia Library to access Rock's Backpages, but there's no guarantee I will find them there.

It looks like your request is the entire contents of 5 chapters, so there's a good chance that an ILL request will get rejected. How did you come up with that page range?
OTOH, it seems to be out of print, and the publisher seems probably defunct, so the publisher can't really argue that you should've purchased the book legitimately, since it seems like it'd be a second-hand copy anyways, so should I try requesting a scan via ILL and see what they say? I'm willing to give it a try, but why those pages? Are you specifically interested in the aftermath of the 1669 eruption? FWIW, I found a citation to that page range in https://www.viella.it/download/7048/18d4a449a56d/heroes-in-dark-times.pdf. If you're working on Huaynaputina, I think pp. 24-30 might be more relevant? Should I try to request a physical copy of the book so that I can more easily find and send you anything relevant?

For Amelia Barbiere. Both journals say that they have been digitized by Hathitrust, but checking there, I find no open access journals. Noi donne listing at Hathitrust does not show 1994 and a general search of Hathitrust shows no listings for either "Casa san Giuseppe, Muhura" the orphanage Barbiere founded in Rwanda, nor her name. The search for Mondo e missione on Hathitrust shows nothing for Barbiere, but shows the article about the mission is on pages 90 and 135-137. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For #1, it looks like Stanford has issues from 1994 (https://searchworks.stanford.edu/view/2758622), so I'll try to request an interlibrary loan for the article.

Seems likely that whatever the name of the article is in the 2nd source it starts on page 134 and goes to 137. The other pages are probably the table of content and the indices entries, but I'm obviously not sure. From what I could see in the google search that In cammino appears at the top of the page, but is likely not the article title. Can we try for those pages? My library's ILL website is currently not working, but I think I've put in a request for #1 already, and I'll try putting in a request for #2 once it's back up. I'll add a page of context on each side to minimize the chance of receiving sentence fragments and the like, so pp. 89-91, 133-138, 193-195, 480-482. I think the set of libraries that have the correct issue of each is limited, and judging from the processing history, those that do might be less convenient to borrow from. I think they're working on them, though; the last log entry for each was 4 days ago, and it seems they sent a request and are waiting for a response. My request for Mondo e missione has been cancelled for "Multiple Articles/Chapters Requested at Once". I did some more searching and found some citations to that volume, so I'm working on searching for the article titles in HathiTrust to create a mapping between issue & page numbers and scan numbers. I'm planning to finish this cross-referencing and submit a new request for each issue tomorrow.
Meanwhile, my request for Noi donne was sent to some library via a manual (and therefore slower) process on February 12th. I guess they're either waiting for a reply or are being slow to process the reply.
Sorry that these are taking so long. Most of my ILL scan requests have been satisfied in just a few days, but I guess these sources are hard to find and get.

It looks like vol. 132, no. 1 (January/gennaio 2003), p. 1 is scan #9; no. 2 (February/febbraio), p. 1 is scan #105; no. 3 (March/marzo), p. 1 is scan #201; no. 4 (April/aprile), p. 1 is scan #296; no. 5 (May/maggio) I have no citation for; and no. 6 (June-July/giugno-luglio), p. 1 is scan #489 or perhaps #490. Based on this, the matches we found are:
  • #90: no. 1, p. 82
  • #134-137: no. 2, pp. 30-33
  • #194: no. 2, p. 90
  • #481: no. 5, p. ??? (but searching HathiTrust for other keywords alongside Barbieri does not include #481, so this might not be useful anyways)

Yeah, the siloing of information makes this quite difficult at times, but it's worth it as long as it usually gets put to good use. I'm thinking about an idea for a meta search engine that tells you which databases have what you're looking for, but getting it working well and getting database providers on board might be difficult, especially since it needs to balance usefulness and usability against the interests of the providers... (e.g. they might not want to share a full copy of their full database, but they might be willing to share some kind of index or provide API access.)
Meanwhile, I submitted these requests about an hour and a half ago; hopefully they won't drift around for another month before getting canceled again...

Not sure why the Grand Rapids Press article isn't showing up in their archives - if it's helpful, the author is Terry Deboer, and the article was published on page 7.
As for the Chicago Sun-Times articles, "Former pop 'Idol' turns to Christian music" is by Colleen Long and was published on page 8, while "Runners-up are anything but idle ; Though they didn't win, just being on the show put some singers' fame on fast-forward" is by Karu F Daniels and was published on page 39.
You're right - "SOME ALSO-RAN SUCCESS STORIES" and "How can you keep them down on the farm ...?" are identical articles to each other, which I somehow failed to notice, and do seem to be an exact match with the second article at the bottom of the Ocala webpage - thanks for pointing that out!

They're not in my university's ProQuest subscription, but they are in Wikipedia's and some are in my public library's, but I can't see the full text, only an abstract and metadata. I wish I could be logged into all of those subscriptions at the same time rather than having to constantly switch between them...
FYI for any future requests you might make (and also for when you're citing sources), the more information you can specify about where to find the source, the easier it'll be for us to find and get it for you. Publisher, location, and ISSN help disambiguate publications with the same name, and ISSN in particular makes searching for it way easier, and can allow my ILL (inter-library loan) requests to get semi-automatically processed within 24 hours. Page numbers allow locating the article without checking every single page, and are often a requirement for ILL. Author names can sometimes make searching for it easier. Specifying the database you used allows others to check that database to see if they have additional access and to check for any metadata that they might find useful if you didn't already mention it. Things like subjects and summaries are usually omitted, since they take up a lot of space but provide limited value.
I've put in ILL requests for #1–4.
I got #1 (the US Today article) from the Internet Archive about half an hour after submitting it. I swear I tried to search for it there myself first, but maybe I searched for USA instead of US? @Archivar-Alex: I've submitted a request to my university's libraries, who after some back-and-forth, eventually sent a request along to some other library mid-day on March 28th, and are either waiting for a response or taking time to process it. Unfortunately, the amount of time these requests take can vary wildly, depending on various visible and invisible factors, so I don't think I can usefully give you an estimate (though my best guess would be at least a couple of weeks since I think they're going to ship the physical item), but I'm hoping I can get it eventually.

The Fierce Vienna, Catalan, and Sidelines[edit]

For Draft:Devin gambit, I have been looking for sources to expand on the 3. ...d5 lines. According to Chessable search, this course has some material about a particular line in this gambit (1.d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. g4 d5), and I suspect that the relevant text content is in the "16) 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 - 3rd Move Alternatives" chapter. This was played by Espineko in response to Mamedyarov's use of the gambit in the 2022 Tata Steel Masters at Wijk aan Zee. If I could get just the text explanation of each of the variations involving the move order 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3. g4 d5, as if one were in the "book" mode, that would be sufficient.

My university has both volumes of OCLC 17300892 in print, but 41+7+38+33+10 = 129 pages from the same book is a lot, so please filter it down somehow. You can search through it at Google Books and HathiTrust to find page numbers, or you can let me know what kinds/categories of information you'd be most interested in, and I'll do my best to help you out. (I think that any amount of information should be fine, but to respect copyright, I'd prefer to limit verbatim quotes/figures/pages to about 10% of the whole book.)

However, one other thing we require people requesting sources to do is identify at least one Wikipedia article (existing or not - it can be a new article they plan to write) that they intend to use the source to improve. @ネイ: The item is a 24-page index, so it likely contains very little data about each privy counsellor. It's available at only the one library, and I don't think WP:RX has any volunteers in Dublin, so your best bet may be asking the National Library of Ireland to scan it for you. Gambit Chess Openings by Eric Schiller[edit]

For Draft:Devin gambit. I'm looking at page 16 of this source, which states that there is coverage of the gambit in Schiller's book ("Devin’s 3. g4 is also in the Eric Schiller’s Gambit Chess Openings, where Schiller assesses the position at move 3 as better for Black"). Unfortunately the book is not at the IA library, and it's not searchable on google. I'd only need the portion of the book that relates to this particular gambit (1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. g4), but I don't have page numbers owing to the lack of google preview.

Regarding #2, in 1937 the title of the journal was simply Petermanns Mitteilungen. The Wayback archive links for the 1992 Nebraska Public TV video "The Street of Dreams" appear to all be useless.

The 1994 video "A street of Dreams" is readily available, but no clue as to whether there is any likelihood that "A Street of Dreams (1994)" is actually a suitable alternative to "The Street of Dreams (1992)".

There are about 20 articles on enwiki that cite (or intend to cite) this source.

@Fabrickator: There does not appear to be a The Street of Dreams (1992). The supposed link for it is archived (at [22]) but instead lists: "A Street of Dreams, 58 minutes, Great Plains National Instructional TV 1994. Documents the history of Omaha's African-American and Jewish community on North 24th Street, which flourished in the 1920s."
One would have to watch the whole video to find where in it each statement attributed to it is supported (or more-or-less supported, editors can be pretty slapdash about source-text integrity). The lynching of Will Brown covered in Omaha, Nebraska is described starting at 14:02 minutes in, for example (I don't think it puts a dollar figure on the damage, but I'm not going to go through it with a fine tooth comb). @Worldbruce: I appreciate your efforts to locate a 1992 video called "The Street of Dreams", but I believe the most plausible explanation is that there was in fact a 1992 production of "The Street of Dreams". In 1994, at the time they decided to do a subsequent release, they became aware that "the street of dreams" was used in other cities, and in fact, the New York Times did a story in 1992 titled "On The Street of Dreams" to refer to St. Marks Place. I myself have been oceassionally locked out at login even though I am a registered user. Hopefully, it will get fixed. This is the problem of low budget, self-funded web site.
However, I noticed that there currently is an active thread about the "tunnel door." It is Mysterious doors in Great Pyramid to be unlocked by Hawass (5 Dec 2023). Its posts contain links to articles and past posts about the door's "unlocking." The latest news, April 11, 2024 is that Hawass ... "has been working with a team of robotics experts with a new robot design. He said that more will be announced early June." This was from an April 11, 2024 lecture by Hawass. Is it an image request or you want to describe the image? If the latter, the Russian Academy of Sciences posted a book that describes the plate on page 110. I am sure though that you want to upload it to Wikipedia as it's public domain, but here I just think that Harvard are being assholes for restricting access to public domain documents (I tried maniulating the width and height of the image in question but Harvard sysadmins aren't that stupid, so the request redirected me to the login page).
