Christmas jumper → Ugly Christmas sweater – I think this is the more common title. Additionally, Per MOS:COMMONALITY, we should use universally accepted terms rather than those less widely distributed, especially in titles. As "sweater" is used in both British and American English, while "jumper" is only used in British English, the title that is just as easily recognized across both major varieties of English is superior to the title easily recognized in only one of the two major varieties. — Mhawk10 (talk) 04:47, 12 March 2022 (UTC) — Relisting.     - My argument isn't based on WP:COMMONNAME, but it's based on MOS:COMMONALITY, which is different. I don't think that this is going to be an international commonname (ABC News returns zero valid urls for "Christmas Jumper", while it returns a good number for "Christmas sweater". Meanwhile, The Guardian returns results for "Christmas Sweater" and "Christmas Jumper"). The point I'm trying to make is that nobody in the U.S. knows what a Christmas jumper is, but U.K. publications use both the terms "Christmas sweater" and "Christmas jumper". As a result, we should use the most internationally recognized phrase for this item (much like the soft drink article). — Mhawk10 (talk) 03:10, 13 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I support changing the title to "Christmas sweater" without the "ugly". In the US, an article of clothing called a jumper is a casual sleeveless dress worn over a blouse. Most Americans know that the Brits say "petrol" instead of "gasoline" and "lift" instead of "elevator", but I feel safe in saying that only a tiny percentage of Americans know that a sweater is called a "jumper" in the UK. If the word "sweater" is widely understood in the UK, then that is the best word for the article title. Cullen328 (talk) 22:45, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Support per nomination. Upon seeing the main title header "Christmas jumper", I thought the article delineated those who are unable to ward off attacks of suicidal depression suffered when one's psychological state is at its lowest ebb at Yuletide. The misunderstanding regarding the term "jumper" as well as the confusion as to the proposed alternative title were cleared up through reading the article in question, which uses "ugly" three times ("ugly sweater" / "Ugly Christmas Sweater"). However, if there is no consensus for Christmas jumper → Ugly Christmas sweater, but potential consensus for Christmas jumper → Christmas sweater, per comment by Cullen328, I would also support that form. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 02:07, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Support either a move to Ugly Christmas sweater or Christmas sweater; either is more universal than the current title, per the Commonality argument. Anecdotal, of course, but as a North American the only time I've ever encountered the term "jumper" for a sweater is probably Harry Potter.
