Amount of weatherboxes[edit]

I feel as though there are too many weatherboxes, which make the page feel cluttered. Maybe pick out the most important few weatherboxes and remove the others, to make it look less cluttered. Bli231957 (talk) 18:56, 23 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There are not too many weatherboxes; I only picked out the most important cities. They are all collapsed anyway, so they do not take too much space. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 09:10, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I personally feel that there are too many weather boxes on this page as well. In regards to the spacing issue, they may not take up much space on the article but they all contribute to the page size. As a result, I am sure that one overall box describing the overall climate of China would be better than the numerous ones. Jason Rees (talk) 09:56, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I had only chosen major cities with several million people. But I can see your point, as China has many of those. I am not sure that the page size is a problem and it does not feel cluttered: two large uncollapsed weatherboxes or three average uncollapsed weatherboxes would take up more space. However, I am not sure how to condense all of these weatherboxes into one table for each region (China is such a big country that it would not be good to have one table for the entire country). @Jason Rees: How would you condense the weatherboxes into five tables for each region? I am not good at implementing tables, so I will need help with this. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 13:48, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@InterstellarGamer12321 and Bli231957: I think we need to stop and think about what we should present on this page, as I personally feel that it should probably look something like this work in development about Fiji's climate. You will see that in the sandbox, I talk about the weather that Fiji experiences as well as some of the impacts and that I plan to talk about Climate Change within the article. However, I recognise that China is a lot larger than Fiji and has several different climates which may need to be explored.Jason Rees (talk) 14:10, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have not been able to find that many references on that, and I agree that it needs to be covered. However, so does data from weatherboxes and cities. Comparing Fiji and China is weird, as one country is very small and the other is very big. In Climate of Fiji, I would definitely have the Suva weatherbox, collapsed or uncollapsed, in there. With China (and for any Climate of [Country Name] article), I would have the weatherboxes of major cities. However, as I said earlier, China has too many of those. To me, since they are collapsed, they do not seem to take up much space, even on a mobile device. However, I can see why there may be a size problem. As a result, that is why I wanted to condense the data into five tables for each region. However, at most, only a couple of weatherboxes should actually be removed, as any more removals would create something too patchy to count as something inclusive showing all of China’s climate. I handpicked the cities and they are well-spaced across the country, many with a unique climate. If we had to remove some, I would say we should remove Changchun and Xi’an, but nothing else. We need to condense everything. Even the removal of those two cities would not be ideal. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 14:42, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Changchun, but I would say that Golmud should be removed instead of Xi'an. I might consider Wuhan to be removed too. Bli231957 (talk) 09:33, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have trimmed the number of weather boxes so that there are only three per region now. Three is enough to give an accurate picture of the climate of each region. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 10:17, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
