There is actually an outstanding description, and contextual discussion, of Gabbatha...in a book written by Honorable Colleen McMahon (a federal judge in the southern district of New York). It's entitled, "The View from Gabbatha: Meditations from the Judge's Bench" and is published by Church Publishing (dot org). It includes a powerfully inspiring assessment of the importance in conceiving the balance between doing what's right, and doing what's popular -- a lesson that seems to have evaded so many! Highly recommended as a source for contextual understanding of this term, and many others. --ThinkingOutsideTheBox (talk) 17:50, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hebrew gabbatha[edit]

When Pilate therefore heard that saying he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement even though according to Hebrew gabbatha (cf גֵּו and ἄγω) it was the day of παρα-sychar of the passover, and about the sixth hour

Passover = 1-14
Day of παρα-sychar = 3-15
