A couple of errors?[edit]

Hi, I'm not good at editing this sort of thing but it looks like there are a couple of errors on this page that maybe someone can easily fix?

1. The flag of Northern Ireland is wrong.

2. Northern Ireland is shaded darker than Wales on the map, even though it has a lower HDI. This can't be right.

Thanks, Alan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 148.88.244.232 (talk) 19:11, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
I'm almost entirely sure that whoever wrote this will never read this message, as the IP hasn't been active in 6 years, but I'll leave this here for everyone. The Flag of Northern Ireland is quite a contentious political issue. The Ulster Banner hasn't held any official status in about 50 years, and choosing to use it in an unofficial capacity as THE flag of Northern Ireland is incorrect. The only flag in use in Northern Ireland in any official capacity is the Union Flag. No matter your stance on the situation in NI, we can only stick to the official line on stuff like this, because any other choice would cause even more arguments.
The map used (depicted on the right) showed data from 2017, when NI did have a higher HDI than Wales. This has now been replaced by a new map showing data from 2021, in line with the data available on the page.
Hope this provides some context to anyone trawling the web. -Asheiou (they/them • talk) 13:42, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
