Notable people Macdonald surname[edit]

We have a Macdonald Street in town, first time I had encountered not-capitalized D version of the name; that caused me to perform a Google search that brought me here.

That said, I noticed a couple possibly misplaced names:

Amy MacDonald (writer) (born 1951), American writer and journalist

Doesn't say they were "born Xxxx Macdobnald" anywhere.

I don't know the history to know whether these names are in the proper category but miscapitalized or if they were born one name and recapitalized it later. MENDE?[edit]

The first section of this article is entitled "MENDE." What does that mean? Is it an acronym? We don't seem to have an article for it. I can't find anything in Google. Can we either explain this title, or replace it with one that means something. Chuntuk (talk) 16:45, 25 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Mainly Scottish[edit]

McDonald originated in Scotland, not Ireland, so why is it described as being Irish AND Scottish? Virtually everybody called McDonald is either Scottish or of Scottish descent.

Too many Scottish names are being described as Scottish AND Irish simply because some Scottish people moved to Ireland a few hundred years ago. Ses102 (talk) 17:17, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
