I just want to know, if Nokia (the phone company) is behind this, did Nokia build it or the name has other reasons?
Nokia is the sponsor of this arena, it paid for its renovation and I guess it also paid extra to have its name on it until 2009 or so. ⌠Yellow up⌡ 16:18, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: page moved per WP:COMMONNAME. I also checked a Google news search for each name along with "Tel Aviv" to verify usage beyond "official name". -- JHunterJ (talk) 11:21, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yad Eliyahu Arena → Nokia Arena – per WP:COMMONNAME The historic name is indeed Yad Eliyahu, but since sponsorship was purchased, the Nokia name is commonly referred to in the media, and only diehards (including yours truly) use the old name. Nonetheless, the common practice is to use the current name and there are numerous examples of American sports venues who've had legacy names but have new official commercial names and this is reflected in article names as well (e.g. Chase Field, Minute Maid Park, Progressive Field, Tropicana FieldShuki (talk) 01:40, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME - I have never heard anyone referring to the arena using the sponsored name. There are also conventions on Wikipedia that we do not use sponsored names for stadiums when common alternatives exist (e.g. City of Manchester Stadium rather than Ethihad Stadium).
