Coining term[edit]

I could find no evidence that anyone in New Orleans coined the term "misdemeanor murder" so I moved the statement here and rewrote the section. It was used in Florida in 2001, before the aftermath of Hurrican Katrina made it popular in news about New Orleans. It was also used by lawyer Percy Foreman before he died in 1988 as quoted in a book about him published in 1969.-----Adimovk5 (talk) 04:04, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Misdemeanor Murder A term coined by New Orleans, describes the amount of time a suspect can be held without being formally charged until he is released. So a person will commit murder, be arrested, held 60 days, then released since formal charges could not be brought, an all too common occurrence in New Orleans.

article should be deleted[edit]

we don't need an article for some reporter's made up term.

"Misdemeanor murder is a situation in which a person is suspected of murder, but there is not enough evidence to convict the suspect of murder in court."
