The title of this page[edit]

There are things like this in other countries too (two examples are Iran and the Haredi communities in the USA). Either the article scope should be widened to cover all of them, or the title should be changed to indicate that the article is only about Israel. An example would be "Modesty guard (Israel)". Are there any countries that don't have laws regarding appropriate clothing? Clearly what is considered 'appropriate' (or 'modest') will vary, and countries that have a specific branch of law enforcement dedicated to enforcing such laws are in a minority, but singling out one or two countries while ignoring the broader context looks wrong to me. 86.147.197.31 (talk) 16:08, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
We have an article Clothing laws by country that contains summaries (but not yet for Israel) which could carry a lot of what is in this article. One problem is that things like modesty patrols often have complex relationship to the law. Zerotalk 00:43, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Are there non Muslim countries that have similar divisions? (There is a Sharia patrol page) It would be great to add them. Otherwise we could just keep the original page about Modesty guards at the Western Wall. If you think that you can improve the introduction, go for it. Also, could you sign your name?--Jane955 (talk) 21:37, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Jerusalem[edit]

As our article on the Status of Jerusalem makes clear, assertions that the Western Wall is in Israel are contested. Per NPOV, I have therefore amended the section header. 86.147.197.31 (talk) 13:08, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That is ridiculous. It would be like saying that when you land at Ben-Gurion Airport, you are actually in Zimbabwe. The IDF is in full control of the Western Wall that belongs to Israel and is in the Jewish Quarter. The Wall is part of the Jewish Temple complex that got destroyed. The Jewish religious ministry is in charge of the modesty guards, on the Western Wall, in Jerusalem, Israel.--Jane955 (talk) 12:48, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your opinion on the ridiculousness of the situation is of precisely zero relevance to the article. It is a simple incontrovertible fact that the status of Jerusalem (and of the Old City in particular) is contested, and accordingly the assertion that the Western Wall is in Israel (as opposed to say under Israeli control) is a violation of Wikipedia policy. If you insist on violating such policy, I shall have no alternative but to take the matter to WP:ANI. Judging by the response to the current thread there, you are unlikely to get much sympathy. 86.147.197.31 (talk) 14:06, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You don't even exist on Wikipedia. You do not have a name, a history, a talk page. You are implying that Israel is simply occupying the Western Wall and maybe all of Jerusalem. That is ridiculous. You are welcome to contact an Israeli embassy near you to verify the fact that the Western Wall is part of Jerusalem, Israel. By the way, do you know what Yeru-Shalim (Jerusalem) means? Are you implying that the status of Jerusalem depends on my popularity on Wikipedia?--Jane955 (talk) 15:59, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Since there is clearly no point in responding to such bizarre off-topic ranting, I have now raised Jane955's behaviour at WP:ANI. [1] 86.147.197.31 (talk) 17:02, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well, What country does Jerusalem belong to? Or is it nowhere land that belongs to no one? and why do anonymous people (with no editing history) contributing to the ME section?--Jane955 (talk) 18:00, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Jane955: Comment on content, not on contributors. I changed "Jerusalem (Israel)" to just "Jerusalem". It's unambiguous enough - no-one would be confused whether we mean Jerusalem, New York, Jerusalem, Ohio or some other Jerusalem. Don't add a controversial claim where it's not needed. byteflush Talk 17:10, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If I wrote Jerusalem, West Palestine would that be more accurate? Just trying to understand where this city is located?--Jane955 (talk) 18:03, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Jane955: It would not. Jerusalem is a city in the Middle East (more precisely, around 31°47′N 35°13′E). byteflush Talk 18:06, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
So, if someone wants to visit the Western Wall, they should buy a plane ticket to the Middle East? Can you be a little more specific?--Jane955 (talk) 20:42, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Jane955: I was specific enough. You know the name of the city, I gave you the location (along with coordinates). This is not WikiTravel - if you need further assistance on buying plane tickets to the city, this is not the place for such inquiries. Also, please indent your comments properly. I fixed your previous one, hope you don't mind. byteflush Talk 00:26, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
For travel instructions, there is a sister project where people can share insights about what kind of tickets to buy: [2]. Alephb (talk) 00:29, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. It appears that the closest airport would be in Amman, East Palestine.--Jane955 (talk) 18:39, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, glad this issue is resolved. byteflush Talk 22:26, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
