Untitled[edit]

I'd like to overhaul all the Nikanors Nicanors on Wikipedia. I plan to incorporate all the articles on the seventeen eighteen Nikanors from Smith's Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and Mythology; please see Talk:Nicanor for details. My plan is to do it this weekend.

I intend to adopt Greek spellings, rather than Latin translations of names, and will therefore be requesting page moves for moving the four existing "Nicanor" articles unless I hear otherwise. If you have a concern about this, could you possibly post it either here or at Talk:Nicanor?

Even if Latin spellings are retained, articles still need re-naming: again, a glance at Talk:Nicanor will make it clear why -- "Nicanor of Macedon"/"Macedonia" etc. is just not specific enough for the sheer number of Nicanors that are out there. Feedback appreciated. Cheers, Petrouchka 10:36, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

EDIT: My attention has now been drawn to Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Greek). I'm discontented about it and regard Latin as irrelevant, but, well, there we go. Life goes on, even if people's own names don't. Petrouchka 12:25, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
