It seems a little odd, and certainly disproportionate, that the greater part of this article on a particular district in France should be devoted to one individual person, and an American at that. (Given that it is not part of America). Were not Balzac, Verdi, Curie, Rossini et al equally great individuals? Is that really the most significant thing that can be said about it? And the fact that Vanderbilt kept a home in Passy is surely of little interest, since the same could be said of many, many wealthy people. It all seems very America-focused.
