Historical neighborhood[edit]

The neighborhood is called Nachlaot. It consists of 23 small, historical neighborhoods. Since they were grouped together, many of these neighborhoods were renamed as streets, using their original neighborhood name. Therefore, the historical neighborhood of Zikhron Tuvya is now called "Zikhron Tuvya Street". This historical designation has also been emphasized in the Template:Neighborhoods of Jerusalem at the bottom of this and similar pages. Yoninah (talk) 13:10, 23 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. In my edit summary, I explained that calling it "historical" means it no longer exists, but it did once in history, which is plainly not the truth. You could opt for "historic" except a) that's WP:POV and b) it's WP:PEACOCK, given that it's less than 150 years old in a city that claims to be 3,000 years old, making it actually pretty modern by context. That's the case no matter how many templates and articles use the term. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 13:45, 23 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The city that is 3,000 years old refers to the Old City. The New City, outside the Walls of Jerusalem, was established in the 1860s. This is the 23rd neighborhood built in the New City. Since it is over 100 years old, it certainly is "historic".
I would like to write articles on all the former courtyard neighborhoods that today comprise Nachlaot (and then fix the Nachlaot page). Would it be better to start out "Zikhron Tuvya is a former courtyard neighborhood in Jerusalem, Israel"? Yoninah (talk) 18:23, 23 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, definitely. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 18:32, 23 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks. I'll take care of it. Yoninah (talk) 21:50, 23 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
