Searching for URLs in wikitext[edit]

Hello, I have removed your post at the village pump; it's not really appropriate for the proposals section, and I suggest asking such questions at the dedicated help desk in future. To answer your query, you can use the prefix insource: prior to your search term to search within pages' wikitext. – Teratix 10:13, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

Your submission at Articles for creation: CalFile (January 9)[edit]

Your recent article submission has been rejected. If you have further questions, you can ask at the Articles for creation help desk or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help. The reason left by Tagishsimon was: This submission is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. The comment the reviewer left was: This is indistinguishable from an advert. Wikipedia tries not to take adverts.

TBH, congratulations. This is the very worst advert article I've seen. Breathtaking.

Although there is probably an article to be had, sometimes it is better just to delete - in this case - the advert, and start again.

Umami[edit]

Hi, I'm Netherzone, I wanted to reach out to you on your talk page to let you know I reverted your good faith edit to the article Umami. It did not seem to belong in the article lead section. Please feel free to add it back to a more appropriate section of the article, as I realize that the citations in your edit were good, and they were removed along with the content. If you have a question or would like to discuss it, please use the article talk page. Thank you, and hope you have a good 2021. Netherzone (talk) 23:12, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

Hello, I see that you have added back the technical material into the lead section of Umami. The material you added belongs in the "Properties" section, not the opening section. According to the Wikipedia Manual of Style WP:MOS/LEAD an article's lead section is to provide an accessible overview of the topic, not a technical one, and should not be "too specific". Also leads don't normally include citations, as these are provided later in the article - the opening section is a summary. In the future, to avoid an edit war, please use the article talk page to discuss these changes. Thank you. Netherzone (talk) 18:32, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
Netherzone: Prior to my including 1 citation, there were 8 citations in the article's lead section. "Umami flavorness intensity": nucleotides < glutamates << (glutamates + nucleotides), is a simple fundamental concept. Thanks for not Edit-Warring. ....0mtwb9gd5wx (talk) 20:07, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of "Meg Dodds"[edit]

A tag has been placed on "Meg Dodds" requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. signed, Rosguill talk 20:13, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

@Rosguill:: "Meg Dodds" is a Typo..... 0mtwb9gd5wx (talk) 20:45, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
I saw you posted at the talk page right before it was deleted. The reason for this R3 tagging is that the use of quotation marks is unnecessary and interferes with how the internal search box works. Meg Dodds is fine as a {{R from typo}} signed, Rosguill talk 20:46, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
@Rosguill: Meg Dodds (the typo) is found in reference materials... If you WikiSearch for "Meg Dodds", on the result page, along with all the occurrences, a "Meg Dodds" occurs. If you don't look carefully you could make a redirect at "Meg Dodds" instead of only at Meg Dodds.
.... 0mtwb9gd5wx (talk) 21:03, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
R3 deleting redirects wrapped in quotation marks is standard practice. If you type in a phrase with quotation marks in the search bar, you will be sent to the result without thee quotes. This is because quotation marks are standard search-term syntax that are treated as special characters by the internal search engine. signed, Rosguill talk 21:06, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
@Rosguill: I am only observing that the search result page offers:

You may create the page "Meg Dodds", but consider checking the search results below to see whether the topic is already covered.

.... 0mtwb9gd5wx (talk) 21:23, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
hm, maybe it depends on the exact unicode character your computer or phone uses to render quotation marks that you type? signed, Rosguill talk 21:31, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Line break in signature[edit]

Hi there! I couldn't help but notice that your signature contains a line break, which goes against the signature policy. This can affect page formatting and sometimes makes it difficult to identify your comments. I would recommend removing the line break from your signature to prevent further readability issues on talk pages. — The Only Zac (talk) 00:57, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

@The Only Zac: not true .... 0mtwb9gd5wx (talk) 01:03, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
Oh, then do you sometimes manually add a like break before your signature? Either way, the effect is the same, and I would advise against it. — The Only Zac (talk) 01:08, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

June 2021[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Dennis Bratland. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Honda Super Cub, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Dennis Bratland (talk) 01:21, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Honda Super Cub shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Dennis Bratland (talk) 02:52, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

June 2021[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Wayne LaPierre. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Dr. Swag Lord (talk) 23:53, 3 June 2021 (UTC)

Control copyright icon Hello 0mtwb9gd5wx! Your additions to William Selig have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

August 2021[edit]

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Berrely • TalkContribs 09:44, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

CalFile moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, CalFile, does not have third party sources & cannot remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Replaceable fair use File:Ellie Taylor, All Star Netball for Sport Relief, M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool, England, 19 July 2019.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ellie Taylor, All Star Netball for Sport Relief, M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool, England, 19 July 2019.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. Speedy deletion nomination of Motion Picture (disambiguation)[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Motion Picture (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. ☢️Plutonical☢️ᶜᵒᵐᵐᵘⁿᶦᶜᵃᵗᶦᵒⁿˢ 11:24, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
