Turkish names[edit]

Hi, Limorina, hope you are doing fine, I was here to ask you something, do you think we should add the Turkish form I mean Turkish nickname of Halime, I mean like Gazelle is Ceylan in Turkish, should we add the Turkish form of the nicknames of the characters who have it? Thank you. Tahaaleem Talk 09:53, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Tahaaleem, hi, I like keeping everything Turkish when it comes to names so go ahead, but maybe leave a {{translation}} for people watching with English/ Urdu subtitles to understand. Limorina (talk) 10:11, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Empire AS Talk! 09:56, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

They will all be added in good time I’m sure, User:Empire AS, there is quite a bit to add. IronManCap (talk) 00:27, 16 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
IronManCap, Tuktamiş and Mahmut Derviş are good "guest" characters, we need to find their actors first though. Limorina (talk) 10:10, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Limorina, Toktamiş: Demir Parscan. Don’t know about Mahmut. Edebali as a boy might be a good guest character as well if you could find his actor. IronManCap (talk) 11:00, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Cutting down "Supporting#Others"[edit]

IronManCap, I think there should be 3 characters from each season (maybe 4 if it's too short), along with Gündüz and Osman:

  • Season 1: Şehzade Numan, El Aziz and Aykız (Claudius/Ömer if we go with four)
  • Season 2: Kocabaş, Gümüştekin and Tangut (Deli Demir if we go with four)
  • Season 3: Çolpan, Helena/Hafsa and Banu Çiçek (move Hancı Simon down into the "others" section if we go with four)
  • Season 4: Titan, Marya and Alangoya (Sügay, Mahperi or Bahadır as well if we go with four)
  • Season 5: Alıncak, Uranos, Mergen (Arıkbuka if we go with four; move Süleyman Alp to the "Recurring" section) Limorina (talk!contribs) 09:18, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t really think it’s too crowded, Limorina, maybe we could have separate character sections for 3 or 4 per season in ‘others’ like there is for main characters who only starred in one season, then a simple list of others underneath in bullet point form. IronManCap (talk) 10:49, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
IronManCap, the article will most likely become unfit for WP:AS and we really don't need that much info anyway, nobody will be interested. We'll go with 4 characters per season in that section at max. Limorina (talk!contribs) 12:29, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Limorina, ok, how about we downgrade the ones who only were in one season from the main supporting section (Petruccio, Aytolun, Candar, Simon, Sirma), and put multiple-season characters e.g. Abdurrahman, Hafsa, Deli Demir there instead, and then do your 3/4-per-season idea for the ‘less important’ list. IronManCap (talk) 18:44, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Therefore, Limorina, it would go something like this:
  • S1: El Aziz, Aykiz, Claudius/Ömer, Petruccio (Yigit, Numan, Afsin in recurring)
  • S2: Gümüştekın, Göncagül, Korkut, Aytolun (Kocabash & Tangut in recurring)
  • S3: Çolpan, Simon, Candar, Çiçek
  • S4: Titan, Mahperi, Bahadır, Marya (Alangoya as a guest)
  • S5: Alıncak, Uranos, Mergen, Sirma (Arikbuka as recurring)

These as well as Gündüz, Süleyman and Osman.

IronManCap (talk) 18:59, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Osman is controversial[edit]

I don't think Osman or any of Ertuğrul's sons should be main characters. There were some episodes in which they weren't shown in at all, I even find Gündüz more influential in season five. I think Savcı should be "recurring" and Osman and Gündüz should be supporting as they influenced the plot significantly. I didn't change it because I wanted to know why you decided to class him as a main character, IronManCap. I also think we should explain what they mean;

  • Main characters- characters who the plot focuses on.
  • Supporting characters- characters who have influenced the plot significantly.
  • Recurring characters- characters who don't significantly influence the plot.
  • Guest characters- characters who have not influenced the plot at all but are notable and characters who have influenced the plot of one episodes or a few episodes. Limorina (talk) 11:08, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks for your opinion, Limorina IronManCap (talk) 11:54, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I made him a main character considering his dreams and his influence on the storyline, particularly with Ilbilge etc. I haven’t actually watched season 5 yet, this was my impression from what I have read and the clips I have seen. He wasn’t added at all before, so I added him into ‘main’ as I thought that would be appropriate. I’m happy with him as ‘supporting’ though. IronManCap (talk) 12:05, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Tekfurs of Karacahisar[edit]

User:IronManCap, do you think we should have a template for the Tekfurs of Karacahisar, just like the ones for the Beys? I was going to make one but I forgot Helena's father's name, but your edits reminded me. Limorina (talk!contribs) 18:14, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We could certainly do that, User:Limorina, we could also do it for Tekfur of Kulucahisar perhaps and maybe for positions like Chief Alps, Uç Beys, Selçuk Sultans etc. Helena’s father’s name was only mentioned in her wedding, btw. IronManCap (talk) 18:43, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Kulucahisar only had one Tekfur, I agree with Cheif Alps and Selçuk Sultans but not Uç Beys because there was only one too. Limorina (talk!contribs) 18:56, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yannis, Sofia and Nikola were all basically Tekfurs after Yorgopolos, whilst Candar, Aliyar, Yavlak , Ertuğrul and now Osman were all Uç Beys in the west, so something could be made out of it, Limorina. IronManCap (talk) 19:32, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
User:IronManCap, I still don't agree about Kulucahisar, but about the Uç Beys; Candar, Aliyar and Osman were not Uç Beys but now that I think about it, Gumustekin and Beybolat (along with Ertugrul and Yavlak) were Uç Beys. Limorina (talk!contribs) 21:26, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
User:Limorina, if you remember, Candar was made Uç Bey by Köpek in S3, Aliyar inherited this title when he became Çavdar Bey, as mentioned in the election. Osman also inherited the Uç Beylik from his father, both historically and presumably in the show, as he clearly has rule over Söğüt whereas Yavlak ruled before, and he clearly has rule over other Turkmen tribes as he gathered them for a meeting. I was meaning more about Uç Beys in different areas, so maybe a template for the Mongol border and a template for the Byzantine border. As for Kulucahisar, I guess you can say that Yorgopolos and Nikola were the only true Tekfurs, and that Sofia and Yannis just occupied the castle, so we can leave that. IronManCap (talk) 22:31, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
IronManCap, I still don't think Osman is the Uç Bey, he might later become it, maybe after Arslan's death but not yet, he just walks around in Söğüt as it's ruled by the Kayi and Osman is the Kayi Bey. Limorina (talk!contribs) 23:39, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've created the templates for the Tekfurs and the Uç Beys but I need your help with the Cheif Alps (Alpbaşı) because I really don't remember things as good as you. Limorina (talk!contribs) 00:26, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I also think a template for Kayı Hanıms would be a good idea, Limorina. IronManCap (talk) 10:10, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sultan and Noyan in KO[edit]

Limorina, could you perhaps remind me where Noyan and Sultan Alaeddin were mentioned in Kuruluş: Osman, as I don’t seem to recall? IronManCap (talk) 09:45, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

IronManCap, Balgay mentions Noyan when Göktug was captured, I didn't add the Alaeddin thing. Limorina (talk!contribs) 09:59, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I’ll remove the Alaeddin one until there’s any evidence that he was mentioned. IronManCap (talk) 10:21, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
 Done: He’s been mentioned now. IronManCap (talk) 12:20, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Limorina, turns out Noyan has now been mentioned as the father of Togay! Did not see that coming. IronManCap (talk) 18:29, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't watched the episode yet but that seems crazy and exciting since he wasn't shown to marry (or have a relationship) with any other woman besides Goncagül, who died very early. But I guess Mongols had a lot of Hatearas (or whatever you call them) so maybe. It sounds weird and far-stretched to be honest, IronManCap. Limorina (talk) 18:53, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Limorina: I haven’t seen the episode yet either, I found this out from discussions on YouTube comments. I agree it’s a bit wild, since Balgay was more similar to Noyan than Togay imo. I’d assume Togay was born offscreen during DE season 3 or sometime before season 4, since he would be younger than Osman (clearly not the case) if he was born after that. I would also like to know who Noyan’s wife/mistress was. I guess it’s interesting that in DE season 2, Ertuğrul fights Noyan, and in KO season 2, Ertuğrul’s son fights Noyan’s son. Çiçek and Köpek[edit]

Limorina, given that Köpek and Çiçek appeared in a significant amount of episodes and had significant roles in DE S2, I’ve changed their categories in all relevant articles and on the cast table accordingly. Çiçek was already ‘recurring’ in s2 on the cast table, I found. Thank you. IronManCap (talk) 18:37, 7 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects[edit]

User:IronManCap, I agree about Aykiz but not Ilbilge about that thing you did. Don't add Aykiz's image but merge it into Aslihan's. Limorina (talk) 13:42, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Limorina, I’m not sure how merging Aykiz and Aslihan’s images would work, as Aykiz would redirect to ‘season 1’, and Aslihan redirects to ‘season 4-5 and Kuruluş: Osman’, so it would be difficult to put the image in an appropriate place. Also, WP doesn’t say anywhere not to have multiple non-free files in an article. Even though Ilbilge may not be a fan favourite, I don’t see the problem with redirecting her to ‘season 5’ for Ertuğrul’s page and adding an image. IronManCap (talk) 17:12, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, nvm about Ilbilge Limorina, there isn’t much info about her there anyway. IronManCap (talk) 17:16, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
IronManCap, I disagree with İlbilge because Ertuğrul's article doesn't say much about her at all and it isn't relevant to him either. If you want to add a separate image for Aykız, go ahead, I'm just saying that it could get deleted because WP wants a minimal use of fair-use images and therefore the Hafsa, Doğan and Aslıhan images could be deleted. Limorina (talk) 17:18, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I know there was an issue with images on the Bamsi article previously, Limorina, although the Hafsa one has survived a good while. Hopefully the fair use rationales will convince administrators etc. If not, we’ll revert the redirects to how it was before. Btw, I think we could do the same thing for Bala in Osman’s article (and maybe Savci, and for Malhun when she marries Osman). IronManCap (talk) 17:48, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
IronManCap, I don't agree with the KO things because of the same reason about İlbilge, Savcı's storyline is different and I'm sure Malhun's will be too. Same with Bala. Limorina (talk) 17:58, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Limorina, what about for Marya in Artuk's article (if we mention there that Artuk divorced Marya and that she was killed by Kritos)?IronManCap (talk) 18:25, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Btw, Limorina, I’ve noticed after a bit of research that there is some notable ‘reception’ for Süleyman Şah, so I may ditch the Dündar draft and work on a Süleyman Şah article instead. IronManCap (talk) 19:33, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
IronManCap, can we just leave the number of character articles as they are? I don't find a point in having all these articles, Ibn Arabi and Selcan are the last ones that there should be in my opinion. The Ertugrul article hardly has any viewers, so there is no pint in having any more articles, especially Suleyman Sah, who only appeared in one season. About Marya and Artuk, the plot may become excessive and I just want it as it is because I don't find this wife-redirect thing ideal. Limorina (talk) 20:05, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, it sounds like you’re quite stressed from your tone of language, Limorina. I’ll stop pinging you in that case. IronManCap (talk) 20:19, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Characters based on real people[edit]

How do you know which characters are based on real people? And what type of “source” should I provide? Ertugrulfan14 (talk) 05:17, 30 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

IronManCap can you please answer my question? Ertugrulfan14 (talk) 10:12, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Ertugrulfan14: Sorry, your mention of me was incorrectly formatted so I didn't get a notification. I mean citing a reliable source that says the characters are based on someone. Sources in general look like this:[1]. We have sourced information regarding certain characters being based on real life people at individual character articles though, so we know who they are based on. If you can find any source (e.g. a website, book, YouTube video from a verified account, tweet or podcast) that says Hafsa is based on the real Hafsa Hatun, you are welcome to bring it up here. IronManCap (talk) 12:53, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  1. ^ "Diriliş Ertuğrul dizisinde İlbilge Hatun karakterini canlandıran Hande Soral kimdir, kaç yaşında?". Hayat Haberleri (in Turkish). Sözcü. 7 November 2018. Retrieved 21 June 2021.

@IronManCap thanks for telling me. I’ve found loads of videos on YouTube saying “who was Hafsa Hatun in real history” and there’s even portraits of her, and a real statue. I thought it was very obvious that Hafsa was based on that person, especially by her bio. Ertugrulfan14 (talk) 10:26, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Ertugrulfan14 A YT-video could work, but per WP-philosophy, most of them are crap, see WP:RSPYT. What have you got? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:14, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Characters Debut Episodes, Characters last episodes / death episodes[edit]

Hi :IronManCap, so like you did with the list of KO characters page, maybe we could make characters debut episodes and last episodes (netflix episodes) but in the DE page? Just know that I'll definitely be contributing to making this, let me know what you think. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ShallowGull (talkcontribs) 06:58, 21 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We could certainly expand the table to do that, although it might take a while with all of the characters. I can create a mock table in my WP:SANDBOX and see where we go from there. IronManCap (talk) 18:27, 21 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
IMO, a "death-episode" table is WP:FANCRUFT. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:28, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

IronManCap Sure, we could just put a separate table at the bottom I guess, but I'm not sure how to do that. Maybe I could copy and paste the starring characters page but tweak a few things?

IronManCap So I just started making the table. I just copied and pasted the other table but I'm crap at Wikipedia editing so can you please start it off so all I have to do is fill in the characters?
